• This plant is a native to south and southwest Asia.
• Nigella contains an element which means black.
• This is due to the unusually dark color of the seeds.
• This plant can grow up to a height of 20–30 cm (7.9–12 in).
• The plant has finely divided and linear leaves.
• The flowers are delicate.
• They are usually colored pale blue and white.
• They have about five to ten petals.

Growing/Caring conditions for Nigella Sativa

• Eliminate all grass and weeds in the planting location of Nigella.
• Loosen the soil.
• Loosen to a depth of 4 to 6 inches.
• Sow the nigella seeds in the prepared location.
• Cover the seeds with 1/8 inch of soil.
• Water lightly right after planting.
• See that the seeds are not buried too deeply.
• Water the seeds when the surface of the garden soil feels dry.
• Feed with water-soluble fertilizer once every week.
• Pull weeds from around the plants.
• Shear off blooms as they fade.
• It takes eight to 15 days for nigella seedlings to emerge.
